Cooperation with the St. Petersburg State Transport University

Foreign PartnerProf. Dr. Ekaterina Blagoveshchenskaya
Local Partner
Prof. Dr. Lutz Strüngmann
Date2019-

Since 2019 we have a formal contract of cooperation with the St. Petersburg State Transport University signed by both Universities. The cooperation is based on a long standing international cooperation between Professor Dr. Ekaterina Blagoveshchenskaya from St. Petersburg and Professor Dr. Lutz Strüngmann from CAMMBIO. The main focus of the cooperation is on topics related to group theory, in particular commutative group theory and applications in theoretical computer sciences. Moreover, Professor Blagoveshchenskaya is also interested in mathematics of music and together we plan to initiate a student and hopefully also staff exchange between the two institutions.

Cooperation with the University of Heidelberg

Foreign PartnerProf. Dr. Norbert Gretz, Prof. Dr. Philipp Erben
Local Partner
Prof. Dr. Ivo Wolf and Prof. Dr. Markus Gumbel
Date2012-

Prof. Gumbel has a cooperation with Prof. Erben from the research laboratory for urology. The main focus of their research is the modelling and simulation of bladder cancer. Several bachelor and master theses were developed together.

Cooperation with the University of Strasbourg

Foreign PartnerProf. Dr. Christian Michel
Local Partner

Profs. Dr. Elena Fimmel, Prof. Dr. Markus Gumbel and Prof. Dr. Lutz Strüngmann

DateSince 2014 a close cooperation with Professor Ch. J. Michel, a bioinformatician from the University of Strasbourg. The main topic of the joint research is the theory of circular codes. Professor Michel is one of the discoverers of circular codes in nature. Since 2018 there is also a cooperation with Professor J-S Sereni from the University of Strasbourg, a well-known French graph theorist.  Results of the joint research have been published in several articles in renowned international scientific journals. The cooperation is also reflected in the joint supervision of doctoral theses.
